I have created this page not because I can, but to share my experiences as I have seen it all — soldier in two wars, inmate in a military prison, and prisoner of war. But as in Invictus, I am still standing.
I am an Australian writer of Iraqi background. I served as a communications soldier in the Iraqi military through the Iran–Iraq War and the invasion of Kuwait, then spent four years as a prisoner of war in a Saudi Arabian camp before emigrating to Australia in 1994. Since then I have worked in IT and systems administration, and written poetry, political commentary and fiction in both Arabic and English — some of it collected on this site, some of it published on other outlets.

An older version of this page put it differently, and I have kept the voice of it here rather than erase it:

This page is meant to dwell in the nowhere, without specific agenda or motive, mostly inhabited by nihilistic ideas, and thus you may find Sartre along with Marx and other ‘questionable characters’ in the philosophy reading list.”
